FECRIS: An Anti-Cult Organization or a Threat to Democracy?

Imagine waking up one morning and being told that from now on you must practice a certain religion, and any dissent will be punishable by death. It sounds like a scenario from the Middle Ages or a totalitarian regime, doesn’t it? Unfortunately, it is closer to reality than we would like to think. In one of the democratic countries in Europe, there is an organization with peculiar goals — FECRIS. This is the focus of my investigation. Let's delve into it together.

FECRIS (European Federation of Centres of Research and Information on Sectarianism) is an umbrella organization of anti-cult groups. According to their website, FECRIS addresses the issues posed by modern organizations with sectarian and totalitarian characteristics, whose methods violate fundamental human rights. However, there is ample evidence that their declared activities do not align with reality.

Deprogramming: Illegal Methods

FECRIS and its members have been repeatedly implicated in attempts to deprogram members of religious groups, for which some have been held accountable. Deprogramming involves kidnapping, unlawful confinement, and psychological pressure to change the victim’s religious beliefs.

Examples of court cases substantiate these allegations:

- In 1999, the European Court of Human Rights found that the organization AIS/Pro Juventud, a member of FECRIS, was responsible for the unlawful confinement of members of the "Center for Esoteric Research" (case number 37680/97).

- In 2002, the Marseille District Court found Jacky Cordonnier, a member of UNADFI and FECRIS, guilty of defamation against the Jehovah's Witnesses (case number 01207964).

- In 2003, the Paris Court of Appeal upheld the verdicts against Janine Tavernier and UNADFI for public defamation against Danièle Gounord and the Church of Scientology (case number 01/03757).

These cases demonstrate that anti-cult organizations frequently violate human rights concerning freedom of religion and speech, as well as the presumption of innocence. In addition to defamation, they often resort to violent methods.

Impact on Democracy and Security

While researching their activities, I came across a video by Dr. Egon Cholakian, a national security expert and member of the U.S. Geospatial Intelligence Foundation. In his three-hour presentation, he thoroughly explains the methods used by anti-cult organizations, their purposes, and their role in global politics. According to Cholakian, democracy is under serious threat not only in America but worldwide. Our world is teetering on the brink of becoming a digital concentration camp, and at this moment, the choice of each individual is crucial.

The existence of organizations like FECRIS is possible only with the silent approval of the majority. For instance, in Russia and Ukraine, the Russian organization RATIRS, a member of FECRIS, is actively operating. In these countries, human rights such as freedom of speech and religion are suppressed, and the presumption of innocence is absent. This erosion of democracy paves the way to a totalitarian society.

The Choice is Ours

If you value your rights and freedoms, investigate the issue of anti-cult organizations. They covertly influence public opinion and affect our thoughts and actions. Operating from the shadows, they gain their power. However, by exposing their destructive activities, we strip them of this power. The more aware people speak out about the illegal actions of anti-cult organizations, the harder it will be for them to manipulate us.

If you stand for freedom and democracy, do not remain silent. Speak out, for the truth must be heard loudly.
