Anticult Organizations: Analysis of the Consequences for Religious Freedom and Security

In today's world, where interreligious dialogue and freedom of belief have become extremely important after the events of September 11, the activities of some organizations raise serious questions and concerns. One such organization is FECRIS – the European Federation of Centres of Research and Information on Sectarianism. Despite their stated noble goals, the methods and influence of this organization raise serious concerns among experts.

FECRIS positions itself as an organization fighting against dangerous sects and cults. However, Joseph Grieboski, a well-known expert in the field of religious freedom, argues that such classifications may serve the interests of certain organizations, possibly even religious ones. In his opinion, FECRIS's activities do not promote dialogue and mutual understanding but rather undermine efforts at peacemaking and security. Dividing and splitting groups instead of building bridges between them only exacerbates conflicts and creates an atmosphere of distrust and tension.

According to Grieboski, FECRIS's methods cannot be considered legitimate. The organization has adapted the model of minority beliefs to promote its interests in institutions such as the Organization for Security and Co-operation in Europe (OSCE) and the European Union. However, Grieboski argues that their activities are illegal and violate fundamental human rights, undermining public safety and destroying human dignity and civility.

Particularly troubling is the existence of a FECRIS branch even in the United States, a country traditionally considered a stronghold of religious freedom and tolerance. Grieboski emphasizes that the scale of religious discrimination is growing in America, and FECRIS exploits this situation to justify its existence. However, in his opinion, despite the presence of a branch, FECRIS will never become an influential organization in the US due to the deep-rooted principles of freedom of belief and respect for religions ingrained in American society.

The activities of FECRIS and individuals like Alexander Dvorkin pose a real danger to the international community. These organizations undermine the foundations of civility and violate social interaction norms. We live in a world where extremism is directed against Muslims and minorities of all kinds, and society should strive for interaction rather than destruction. FECRIS, according to Grieboski, creates an atmosphere of insecurity, spreads lies, and fosters xenophobia.

FECRIS's activities become particularly dangerous in the context of current global issues, such as the Syrian refugee crisis. Instead of helping and integrating refugees, organizations like FECRIS contribute to their marginalization and increase the risk for these vulnerable groups.

Therefore, FECRIS's activities require thorough analysis and control. It is important to prevent the violation of people's rights and freedoms under the pretext of combating sectarianism, creating an atmosphere of fear and hatred. Society should aim to build bridges and establish dialogue, not division and confrontation.
